Summer Youth Pastor Howertons Baptist Church

Howertons Baptist Church is seeking an energetic, engaging and biblically obedient summer youth pastor. The applicant would serve under the direction of the Pastor with input and assistance from the Youth Committee.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a High School graduate and completed at least their freshman year of college.

  • Applicant must have a valid drivers license, proof of insurance and personal transportation.

  • Prefer applicant with background and experience serving in a Southern Baptist Church

  • Prefer applicant sensing a call to full-time ministry.

Responsibilities

Coordinating and Planning: Work with the Youth Committee and the Pastor to plan youth meetings and events.

Visitation and Outreach: Participate in and encourage visitation to prospective students as well as active and inactive students.

Discipleship and Teaching: Lead in developing and leading programs to further the spiritual growth of existing youth and children.

o Serves as Sunday School teacher or assistant in Youth or

Children’s classes.

o Development of regular summer youth meetings/bible studies

o Serve in Vacation Bible School and plan for a summer Youth

Sunday.

Special Events: Actively participate in the planning and implementation of summer events, including but not limited to camps, mission trips and other special events.

Pastoral Assistance – Assist the pastor as needed in visitation, preparation for worship and other duties.

Work Schedule and Salary:

  • Hours: This person will be expected to work at least 20 and no more than 40 hours per week for approximately twelve weeks during the summer (Mid-May to Mid-August negotiated to allow time between completing their spring semester and beginning their fall semester).

  • Schedule: The daily work schedule will be structured to coincide with weekly youth activities. The Summer Intern will be expected to play an active roll during youth Sunday School and attend weekly worship services.

  • The salary and housing allowance combined would be up to $800/week. Work related mileage reimbursement will be paid at the national rate, and existing budget exists through the church for youth events and activities.

  • No other benefits are provided, but housing may be available from a church member.
